The design brief for this Porthaven project was to achieve a ‘boutique hotel’ look that would have longevity of design for residents. It should also be robust enough to stand the
test of time and be compliant with all Care Standards. Above all the design was to demonstrate a step change above that offered by industry competitors and be capable
of evolutionary change.
The Challenge
#968b55
The complete design installation had to remain in budget, whilst at the same time achieving the unique, homely look which has become a hallmark of Porthaven Care Homes. The installed design had to conform and often surpass, published minimum care standards.
The Innovations
#968b55
All hard furnishings had rounded edges and bedroom furniture was recessed into skirting to achieve a ‘built in’ look. Wardrobes and other furniture was modular to achieve maximum flexibility and best use of available space. Fabrics used in upholstery was ‘anti-microbial’ in design. Feature Walls individualise each bedroom but remain complimentary to the overall scheme of the home. Tonal decisions tell a colour ‘story’ throughout to make the building one big room that residents can call ‘home’.
